Not sure if it was Bill Schneider or Anderson Cooper on CNN a few minutes ago who said that Barrack Obama’s speech that ended a few minutes ago took “too long”. That is what scares me. If it can come from these “harmless” white males, I can only picture what the other side of the country that is not celebrating tonight, is thinking.
FOX NEWS’ Sean Hannity is ready to pounce on Barack. You can tell. When Michelle Obama said, “For the first time in my adult lifetime I am really proud of my country. And not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change,” he did not even put that speech in context. He just pounced on her and rattled on about how unpatriotic she was.
He also keeps harping on about Obama’s “plagiarism” when no one else cares and has moved on. If it wasn’t for the kids, I’ve reached a point in my life where I could easily live without satellite TV. Ok I’m lying, but I only watch “important” things like Barack’s speech a few minutes ago.
There’s too few faces with very big mouths on TV. We will keep our prayers going and hope that the people around Barack are keeping one eye open. It’s interesting – as Barack’s star is rising nationally, people at my job are now talking about him in whispers.
I intercepted one of the links that’s making the rounds in the office. There’s a furious focus on Barack’s background as republicans prepare for smear campaigns. I hope that’s all there is. We can live with smear campaigns. I hope it doesn’t become Barack Obama, the “Black” president or worse.
I’ve lived here too long working in many situations as the only black person and I don’t like the vibes I’m feeling around me about Barack because if it’s like this here, more than likely, it’s the same way in many other places.
I worry for Barack.
I know he is in good hands. Unfortunately, I also know too well how the extreme right vehicle thinks and behaves. I hope I’m just paranoid and my frame of thinking is irrelevant in the America we live in today.
I can live with that too.
