Fashion designer wows African women in Illinois with her designs

Kahindo Mateene says when people ask her where she’s from, she simply says, “Africa.”She uses traditional African prints and adds her own touch to make unique designs.
Reluctant to pursue her passion for fashion design after she failed to make it into the TV show, “Project Runway”, a chance meeting with some friends while wearing one of her designs has revived her ambition to start her own clothing line.
