Canadian couple severely hurt in attack in Mt Elgon area

The CBC is reporting that a Canadian couple in the Mt Elgon area have been attacked and are in critical condition in hospital.

John Bergen, of Vernon, B.C., and his 66-year-old wife, Eloise were in Kenya to set up a school were attacked when five men armed with machetes invaded their home.

Canadian officials have been in contact with authorities in Kenya to ensure that an investigation is launched to find the perpetrators of this crime.
