Kenyans in Dallas Fort Worth go on high HIV alert

A Kenyan man in our midst was recently diagnosed as HIV-positive and has become a cause for concern within the Kenyan community here in the Dallas Fort Worth area following statements he made regarding his HIV status, Breaking News Kenya has learnt.

We would like to make it very clear we do not have evidence that a crime has been committed. What we have is first-hand information from a reliable source regarding comments made by this Kenyan about his HIV status and his vow not to “go down alone”. There are numerous other allegations which, when put together, amount to an appearance of promiscuity.

There are efforts from within the community to have this person seek professional (both emotional and medical) help and guidance so that he is not a risk to others in the community.

If you are a Kenyan and you live in the Dallas Fort Worth community, especially young single Kenyan women, please take this as your warning to take care of yourself and know who you are interacting with as you have been specifically targeted.

Your warning is pretty stupid. It takes one young man admitting that hes HIV + for a warning to go out. There are many HIV positive Kenyans in the DFW area. People should always protect themselves not only when there is young man going around making threats to infect everyone. Kenyans believe that only promiscuis people get infected but it can happen to anyone at anytime, married or single sometimes after their first sexual encounter. It is 2008 and no Kenyan Church, even the largest (Upendo) has ever discussed the epidemic as it affects and infects Kenyans here and at home.

    You are right.

Everyone should protect themselves no matter what. However, reports on the Telegraph a couple of months ago and on Washington Post a few days ago about Africans from Sub-Saharan Africa living here and in the UK, tell a different story. We are not getting it, be it cultural, ignorance or a combination of both and infections among Sub-Saharan Africans is rising the fastest among all sub-groups of black people in the west.

I can only do what I am able to do from where I am and with the informaiton I have.

Bill Gates with all his money is able to do a lot to help control all kinds of diseases, but even he cannot stop all the epidemics. He is doing what he can at his level.

Every one should do what they can from wherever they are to protect themselves and their communities. If this post made only one person think twice, then I don’t think I would call it stupid, but this is a free world and to each, his or her own.
