Texas lawmaker wants immigration policy rescinded

Texas State Rep. Ruth Jones McClendon sent a letter to the Texas Public Safety Commission Friday asking the agency not to enforce the policy until the legislature considers it.
The policy, already in effect in Houston, requires every driver living in Texas to prove his or her legal status before they can get a new driver’s license, a new state ID card or have either one renewed.
