Eassy signs contract with Alcatel-Lucent to more than double submarine cable capacity

The East Africa Submarine Cable System consortium also known as EASSy has signed a deal with France’s Alcatel-Lucent that will more than double the capacity of the submarine cable currently under construction and expected to land at the east coast of Africa in June 2009 from 320Gbps to 1.4Tbps.
