I took a little break from politics after the long presidential campaign marathon, but I just had to chime in on Barack Obama’s selection of Tom Daschle as his selection for secretary of health and human services. We are in safe hands people. This guy is one of my favorite politicians here in the US and I can’t wait to see what he is going to do with the health care nightmare.

Daschle is a classy, intelligent and well-liked politician who commands respect from both sides of the aisle and I am so glad to see him back after republicans from all over the country converged on South Dakota in 2004 to make sure he lost his seat.

He was viewed as an “obstructionist” by the republicans for trying to stop the “Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act” in 2001 that offered a $1.4 trillion tax cut to mostly wealthy Americans. Fast forward to the situation in 2008…….need I say more?

Just glad to see Tom Daschle back in Washington ready to continue with his good work.
