No matter what tribe you are – Maasai, Kikuyu, Luo or somewhere in between, no matter where in the world you live, this is a time for all of us – Kenyans – to pause, reflect, be proud and feel encouraged. Barack Obama’s rise to the highest office in the United States is something we all need to celebrate and be proud of. Barack Obama is one of us. Barack Obama is all of us.

CONGRATULATIONS BARACK OBAMA, 44th President-elect of the United States of America

Very true, Irene. Many Kenyans I talk to are cautious to look to Obama to solve all our problems because he surely cannot do that. I’m glad about this. Like he said, we all should pick ourselves up and do what we can. It’s just that by him being up there, we all get a boost to get up an hour early and work an hour later.

    That’s a big deal.
