Angella Muthoni Chegge-Kraszeski, the North Carolina woman charged with trying to swindle a Florida corporation in Raleigh North Carolina, is facing new charges in West Virginia.
She made a court appearance in Raleigh today and then was transported by US Marshals to answer to the new charges in West Virginia where she has been indicted for defrauding the state auditor of US$2 million.
Chegge-Kraszeski is accused of obtaining a fake South African passport and then using it to open accounts similar to major US corporations just like in the North Carolina case. According to the West Virginia Gazette newspaper, she had already funeled almost US$1 million to banks in Nairobi, Kenya by the time of her arrest . Authorities also suspect that Chegge-Kraszeski had accomplices helping her. Details of who they are and what they aided her with have not been released.
The US Secret Service and the West Virginia Commission on Special Investigations are handling investigations for the new charges and three banks, five corporations and nine states that may have been affected by her schemes have been notified.
