New York Times reporting a worrying new trend in the Eastern coast of Africa including Mombasa and Zanzibar called “flashblood” or “flushblood” where addicts who cannot afford a fresh shot of heroine, literally inject themselves with blood from friends who just hit a shot…..wow.
It is not clear how widespread this new phenomenon is, but it is giving health care professionals a lot to worry about because a vial full of blood is an almost guaranteed method of contracting HIV and/or hepatitis.
